This was one of my favorite stories to write. I got the opportunity to tag along with these young anglers and camp, fish and record their journey as they completed one of Wyoming’s hardest fishing challenges. Covering this story also led to a friendship with the founder and other professional opportunities with the Joey’s Foundation, including editing and contributing to the book, Joey’s Wyoming Cutt-Slam Challenge: A Guide to Wyoming’s Native Cutthroat Trout Ranges.
It also was my first experience fly fishing. A year later I went back to Wyoming on another fishing trip with Joey and a new group of kids. That weekend I completed my own Cutt-Slam. I've been fishing ever since.
